چکیده

We study the enhancement of two-photon absorption (TPA) in a series of porphyrins and tetraazaporphyrins by measuring the absolute TPA cross sections with 100-fs-duration pulses in two ranges of laser wavelengths, from 1100 to 1500 and from 700 to 800 nm. The cross section in the Q transition region is s2 ; 1 – 10 GM (where 1 GM 5 10250 cm4 s21 photons21), a value that is explained by partial lifting of the prohibition that is due to a parity selection rule. In the Soret transition region we find s2 enhancement by ;1 order of magnitude owing to the Q transition, which acts as a near-resonance intermediate state, and also owing to the presence of gerade energy levels, which we identify in this spectral region. In tetraazaporphyrins symmetrically substituted with strong electron acceptors, we find further enhancement (up to s2 ; 1600 GM). As a possible application, we demonstrate for the first time to our knowledge the photosensitization of singlet-oxygen luminescence by TPA in porphyrin. © 2003 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: 190.4180, 190.4710, 300.6410.

Dramatic enhancement of intrinsic two-photon absorption in a conjugated porphyrin dimery

Promising applications of two-photon absorption (TPA) in high-density optical data storage, two-photon fluorescence microscopy, microfabrication, photodynamic therapy, and other areas of photonics have recently stimulated the search for novel materials with high efficiency of simultaneous (intrinsic) two-photon absorption (TPA). Porphyrins, notably porphyrin oligomers and polymers, deserve a pa...

Energy Optimization And Calculation Of Dose Absorption Enhancement Factor In Photon Activation Therapy

Introduction: Secondary radiation such as photoelectrons, Auger electrons and characteristic radiations cause a local boost in dose for a tumor when irradiated with an external X-ray beam after being loaded with elements capable of activating the tumor, e.g.; I and Gd. Materials and Methods:  In this investigation, the MCNPX code was used for simulation and calculation of dose enhancement facto...

Two-photon absorption spectrum in diazoaromatic compounds

This Letter studies the degenerate two-photon absorption (2PA) spectra of three diazoaromatic compounds using Z-scan with fs-pulses. The 2PA spectra exhibit resonant enhancement of the nonlinearity as the excitation approaches the linear absorption. The absence of 2PA to the pp band is related to the weaker donor/acceptor groups, and lower symmetry of diazoaromatic compounds, in agreement with ...

TWO PHOTON TRANSITIONS IN THE OPTOGALVANIC SPECTRUM OF NEON

Seventeen two-photon transitions for neon have been observed in the 580- 635 nm spectral region for use in the spectroscopic study of its higher excited levels, which are not accessible by one-photon absorption. To compare the two and one-photon absorption signals originating from the same lower level, an effort was made to record single-photon optogalvanic spectrum in the available wavele...

Spectroscopic Behavior of Some A3B Type Tetrapyrrolic Complexes in Several Organic Solvents and Micellar Media

The paper presents spectral studies of some unsymmetrical A(3)B tetrapyrrolic, porphyrin-type complexes with Cu(II) and Zn(II) in different solvents and micellar media aimed at estimating their properties in connection with the living cell. The results indicate that the position of the absorption and emission peaks is mostly influenced by the central metal ion and less by the environmental pola...
